The Hitchhiker's Guide to a small part of Denmark...
date: 1 Jul 1999

Congratulations to Adam Cohen and Søren Bach Christiansen, two researchers in the Intelligent Multimedia Unit at the University of Aalborg, Denmark. TDV has been sponsoring their final Master's research project, based on the design and development of agent-based systems to contextualise and deliver relevant content to the user, in this case the user of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. This followed on from their earlier hg2g-related work. sponsored by Bosch Telecom, on local guidance models for connected PDAs. As they've just received the highest possible marks for the project we can probably allow them a brief moment of smug satisfaction. Guys - the key word is brief. The principles of distributed intelligence, context and relevance matching are more than a little important to the long-term development of h2g2, so we're very pleased that the project has been received so well. Thanks are definitely due also to Dr Paul McKevitt at Aalborg, for his help and support as supervisor of the project.

For more information, please contact TDV's Research Director, Richard Harris (rh@tdv.com)
